Rockboy was all excited about “best show in Seatlle” band, she looked rockabilly but sounded as vanilla as Old 97s, the only benefit to this show was that it made me realize how much magic these punk Texans do with their old country, this band just didn’t get it

fantastic dark country, noodling like a spaghetti western, actually casting long shadows on the wall behind them, no vocals, prog to me but surf guitar to Rockboy, really liked them

the gal pal of WT Special, the sound was so off for their set I almost couldn’t discern her effortless beautiful tang of a voice, good rockabilly, better than WT by far, the sound was really bad

OTMAPP = Only the Meteors Are Pure Psychobilly (this is what people chant at their shows), the first psychobilly say they though The Cramps were contemporaneous, they were much more popular in the UK, Rockboy was very excited, they were hard for sure and driving and that’s the end of their goodness, no diversity in the music and no show, they apparently do not throw up blood any longer

honky tonk – we tried to define it apart from country and came up with twangy guitar, pedal steel guitar, Hawaiian guitar sounds (I say), and traditional uptight singing, I don’t much like the style but it strikes much nostalgia in Rockboy

one of those surprise shows – an old great coming back – he was near toothless and truly short and heartbreakingly addicted to crowd adoration – of other interest was the gay romance hero 80s guitarist who kept trying very inappropriately to do the guitar face-off with other members of the band – happy fat drummer and little old proper but hip dancing keyboardist – other odd white guy was a guitarist doing the turtle head dance

I think I do have a crush on him, dark shadowed face and face scruff with the low hat, he has a knack for picking the beautiful songs (unless he writes them?) and then scruffs them up with a voice distorter that makes him sound like an old black man and by speeding/roughing up the music itself, did I mention he’s a one-man band?, guitar/drum pedal/voice/harmonica, Rockboy thought the schtick got old but I thought his songs choices were interesting enough that it didn’t
