DaraAmericana, Punk
all for Rockboy, $20, not worth that though it was a good show, John Doe and Exene from the 80s punk band X, they brought the country to X apparently and this is a two-album offshoot band that is more country than punk, cow-punk, both were great performers, used to be married

DaraIndie Rock, Singer/Songwriter
the band of Liz Pappadeamus whom Rockboy and Girlfriend2 worship (did I tell you I hate Girlfriend2?), girl had great style and demeanor, mellow punk, she played keyboard and sang and I loved her too, Fiona Apple and Tori Amos are apt comparisons, unique and variety and truth to her songs

DaraCountry, Garage Rock
some incongruence that made her unlikeable, she wore a green A-line go-go girl dress but sang 60s country and then some garage rock (only good stuff), she posed and sang in a manly way and the force she pushed her voice out with was not enough compensation for the lack of beauty in it, no audience connection whatsoever

DaraBlues, Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Singer/Songwriter
a dreamboat of a performer, knows he’s cute, plays guitar like a mofo, Exnonboyfriend and Exnonboyfriendboyfriend saw him years ago and raved about him like he was a prodigy because so young, he sings old-time blues with a gorgeous and intent voice, then he went into prog and then crap singer-songwriter, knows his music and knows how to play with the crowd, outstanding

DaraBluegrass, Country
mix of the two bands we saw on the 6th, two bartenders have not seemed sure of the band(s)’ name(s), Rockboy is big on being a regular, me…not so much

DaraThe Vault
no recollection, some old-timey rock country surely
Aug 06
DaraCountry, Rock and Roll
or so bartender said, lively country with two guitars and an upright bass from strange rural folk
Aug 06
DaraBluegrass, Country
hot fiddler girl and guitarist with Social Distortion tattoo played disappointingly boring bluegrass-country
Aug 06
DaraPunk, Rock and Roll
two “oil-can sluts”—one giggled but the older blonde shimmied her part to perfection, 40-something hard female vocalist who had It, they played at the roller derby and Rockboy wanted to see them because they did a cover from the Gun Club but he found out that a former Gun Club drummer used to play with them—even more exciting, there were two guys but nobody noticed them, Rockboy called them “roadster rock”

DaraGoth, Punk, Rockabilly
they have an incessant numbers of gigs and after hearing them at the roller derby I’d discounted them as some sort of wedding singer group for the roller derby set but they had a schtick and did it ever stick, 4 Satan’s Cheerleaders, one stump-armed upright bassist, a hard-drinking Irish guitarist, a standing-up female drummer and a charismatic poetic ex-heroin-addict lead male vocalist, lots of Cramps covers and same-old (as far as Austin punk scene) rockabilly stuff but the lighting and the sparks of everybody on the stage made it memorable

DaraCountry
young girl, country, whatever

DaraCountry
